President Museveni has directed all ministers to return iron sheets they picked from the Office of the Prime Minister – OPM and Karamoja Affairs Ministry or pay money equivalent to their value.
The president in a letter dated April 3, 2023 says all government officials who diverted the iron sheets meant for Karamoja and used them for personal benefits will face serious consequences.
He says the diversion of the iron sheets is subversive and under the NRA Code, its cheap popularity.
The president says all those who still have the iron sheets should return them or personally re-imburse the value of the mabaati they diverted.
Last week, Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kitutu was charged and remanded to Luzira prison for allegedly diverting the iron sheets. She denied the charges. Hoima
