Hundreds of Christians have thronged Our Lady of Lourdes Bujumbura Cathedral in Hoima West City Division for the sendoff of the departed former Bishop of Hoima Catholic diocese Rt, Rev. Albert Edward Baharagate who died last week.

Religious leaders from different denomination, political leaders and Christians started arriving at the church where the funeral is taking place as early as 7am.

After performing church rituals by a group of Catholic clerics where the media was not allowed, funeral mass started at 10:20am led by Bishop of Fort Portal Diocese Rt. Rev Robert Muhirwa Akiiki

In his preaching, Bishop Muhirwa has commended the Christians and other people for turning up in the big numbers to offer a dignified send off to the Bishop Emeritus.

He notes that the Bishop Emeritus deserves such a send off because of his of recommendable services he offered to humanity and preaching of God’s work.

Bishop Muhirwa called on the Christian and religious leaders to emulate the examples of the late Bishop Baharagate who he described as a humble and loving person who promoted peace, unity and love.

He adds that the late Bishop Emeritus loved people of all ages indiscriminately, promoted sports and encouraged many youth to join priesthood.
