The family of the 37-year-old man who was on Thursday April 6, 2023 murdered in cold blood by his co-workers in Kagadi district are demanding justice for the death of their loved one.
The deceased Richard Alituha, aged 37 and resident of Kisankwa LC1 in Kinyarugonjo sub-county Kagadi district was a casual labourer at the residence of Obed Ambikize, the Kagadi district NRM administrative secretary.
Alituha was allegedly battered to death by his colleagues at work.
It is alleged that the deceased had worked as a casual laborer for Obed for a long period of time but later, he developed a mental disorder hence his employer relieved him of his duties and asked him to leave his home. But, the deceased refused and kept around.
The NRM administrative secretary allegedly directed his workers to tie Alituha with a rope since he was causing chaos on the fateful day because of his mental disorder, but instead the casual laborers assaulted him severely leading to his demise, a claim Spice FM could not independently verify.
One of the eye witnesses who preferred anonymity to speak freely on the matter, says the incident took place at Ambikiize Obed’s home in Mangoma. The source alleges that he saw four men assaulting Alituha and when he tried to intervene, he was chased away.
He adds that when the four noticed that Alituha’s condition was worsening, they used a motorcycle and rushed him to Bajungu Medical services in Mabale town council where he was later pronounced dead.
Patrick Magambwa, the father to the deceased says on Thursday night, he received a phone call that his son had been rushed to Bajungu Medical services, but after a few minutes, he was told that his son had breathed his last.
Mugambwa is now seeking justice for the death of his son and wants Obed to be charged for masterminding his murder.
Dr. Pius Bajungu, the Executive Director of Bajungu medical services says Alituha was brought to his facility when he was dead. He says the postmortem report indicated that Alituha’s death was as a result of heavy assault.
The chairperson LC3 Kinyarugonjo sub county Godfrey Nkabyemera has condemned the act.
According to police sources, two key suspects in the murder of Alituha, Denis Alinda and one Brian all residents of Mangoma village and casual laborers at Obed’s home are still at large.
