Hoima LCV Chairperson Laid to Rest

Kadir Kirungi, the Hoima LCV Chairperson has been laid to rest. He was buried at his ancestral home in Buswekera south cell, Hoima city.

Kirungi 47 was killed in a road accident along the Hoima-Kampala Road. The accident happened on Friday night at around 10pm at Mataagi village, Bukomero town council in Kiboga district.

He died alongside his body guard identified as police constable Bosco Otim 25 attached to Hoima central police station.

Matia Kasaija, the Finance Minister described Kirungi as a leader who was exceptional and a strong National Resistance movement-NRM party cadre.

He says Kirungi’s commitment, work ethic and intelligence in how to conduct the role of the district Chairperson was exemplary tasking other leaders to emulate him.

Kasaija cautioned the family members to desist from wrangles over the deceased’s property but rather embrace unity.

Mary Mugasa, the state minister for public service appealed to drivers and other road users to always be careful and exhibit discipline especially when using the Hoima-Kampala highway.

Benson Chiche, the Hoima LCV Vice Chairperson says Kirungi was an approachable and problem solver who embraced reconciliation.

Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole LCV Chairperson who is also the Chairperson Uganda Local Government Association-ULGA says that they have lost a vocal and visionary leader who loved unity.

Anna Mugoya, the deceased’s wife described him as a loving, patient, honest, truthful and caring husband who was also hardworking.

Amlan Tumusiime, the deceased’s bother says Kirungi was not only a brother but a friend who was at the forefront of fighting land grabbers in the district.

Pius Wakabi, the Bugahya Countu Member of Parliament described Kirungi as a mentor and unifier who embraced cordial working relationships with other leaders.

Robert Wagonza, the finance minister Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom says death has robbed the kingdom and Bunyoro of a strong, Intellectual, intelligent and resourceful servant who tirelessly served the Kingdom.

Kirungi died as he was serving his second term in office. He was first elected the Hoima District Chairperson in 2016 and reclaimed the seat in 2021.
