Unknown assailants have hacked to death a 45-year-old man in Kiryandongo district. The deceased has been identified as Justine Oboko, a resident of Kyabakoka village in Kicwabugingo parish, Kicwabugingo sub-county.
Oboko met his death at around 2 am on Sunday morning. It is alleged that the deceased went to Bweyale trading center on Saturday evening to visit his colleagues. However, the assailants confronted him as he was returning home and hacked him severally before dumping him near his gate.
His wife only identified as Muber heard him screaming for help at around 2 am and rushed only to find her husband lying unconscious in a pool of blood. According to Muber, her husband sustained deep cuts on the head, stomach, and neck.
They mobilized and rushed him to Panyadoli health center III where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Brian Opio, the deceased’s son wonders why the assailants ended his father’s life in such a brutal manner.
Justine Okello, a resident, says that the deceased was last seen with his colleagues at Bweyale trading center on Saturday at around 8 pm and was shocked to receive information that he had been killed.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says investigations into the gruesome murder have commenced. He, however, says that no suspect has been arrested.
