A woman is in custody at Kiryandongo central police station in connection to the brutal murder of 45-year-old George Kyakulagira, a former resident of Kitongoza village.
The suspect, whose particulars have since been concealed by the police for fear of jeopardizing their investigations was reportedly arrested on Tuesday evening.
She is alleged to have connived with unknown assailants who raided Kyakulagira’s home and hacked him to death on Sunday night for unknown reasons. They later dumped his lifeless body on a maize plantation in the same area.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says that the suspect is cooperating with the police, adding that the hunt for other suspects who are currently on the run is ongoing.
Kennedy Basirima, the LC I Chairperson of Kitongoza village has commended the police for the efforts made so far, saying they want all those involved in the murder brought to the book.
