Schools countrywide this morning open gates for learners for the new academic year.
Pupils and students in primary, secondary schools and other tertiary institutions are expected to report to schools on the same day as they seek to create a better future for themselves.
Harriet Kihumuro the Hoima district education officer says all teachers have been prepared and instructed to commence lessons in schools in the first week.
She reveals that the district leadership has tasked parish chiefs to carry out supervision and monitoring of schools in their parishes.
She adds that parish chiefs will provide weekly reports to the district regarding attendance of both pupils and teachers of all schools in their parishes.
Meanwhile, the Hoima City woman MP Asinansi Nyakato has urged parents and guardians to ensure they keep their children in schools.
