Lightening has killed a 13-year-old girl and injured two others.
The deceased has been identified as Florence Namirimo 13, a daughter of Annet Nakiryowa a resident of Rwamata B in Mpasaana town council, Kakumiro district.
Apophia Muhereeza and Annet Tumuheirwe who witnessed the tragedy, at around 7pm Wednesday say the deceased who was in the company of three other children were struck by lightning as they were from collecting firewood. The duo alleged that the incident happened near a swap where Namirimo fell and died instantly.
Cypriano Kibuuka, the chairperson LC1 for Rwamata B cell says that he was called after the tragedy and rushed to the scène, however, he found the Namirimo already dead.
Meanwhile, Baherera Erick Munyakazi, the mayor of Mpasaana town council called upon the community to always be careful and stay at home mostly when it is drizzling.
By press time the police had not reached the scene.
