Hoima district local government leaders are excited over budget support worth over Sh1.4bn which the government has disbursed to the district accounts.
Hoima district council recently approved a supplementary budget for the financial year 2022-2023 which will enable the district to utilize the funds.
The supplementary budget, according to Godfrey Komakech, the Hoima district councilor Buseruka sub-county who doubles as secretary for finance, indicate that the funds which the district received include Sh1.441 billion for conditional wage and Sh45,424, 200 for Agricultural Cluster Development Project (ACDP)
He adds that the district had planned for Sh11, 073,000 towards PLE operation activities but the district received Sh19, 050,000 indicating an excess of Sh7.977 million.
He noted that the supplementary budget will be used to facilitate the district to recruit more teachers to address the challenge of inadequate staffing in schools.
