Police in Hoima has arrested a 40-year-old man on allegations of murdering his wife.
The suspect has been identified as Silivano Byaruhanga alias Mugoyi a resident of Bigando village in Buyanja parish, Buraru Sub County in Hoima District while the deceased is identified as Joyce Mbabazi a resident of the same area.
Speaking to Spice FM, Norbert Balikenda the chairperson Bigando village says, Silivano who has been working as a contractor with Hoima Sugar Limited in Bigado farm, received salary on Wednesday. He returned home this Thursday morning hence a fight ensued as the wife asked him where he had spent a night.
Balikenda says during the fight, Silivano hit his wife with a sharp object on the head killing her on the spot.
He adds that Silivano tried to escape after the incident but was arrested by the residents who took him to Bulindi police post where he was picked to Hoima police Station.
Patrick Rusoke, the District councilor Buraru Sub County condemns the act and cautions couples against domestic violence.
