Private vehicles (non-taxis) have been banned in Hoima taxi and bus park over increased congestion.

Following the introduction of parking fees in Hoima City, residents have turned to parking their cars in the tax park with an intention of dodging parking fees.

City Switch investments LTD secured a contract on 1st July 2022 to enforce parking fees of 1500 shillings per day which started 3rd Oct 2022.

Speaking to Spice FM, Milton Asiimwe, the town clerk Hoima East Division says with immediate effect, private cars are burned from the tax park and failure to comply they will be dealt with by law.

He has further directed people operating garages in the bus park to stop with immediate effect.

Humfrey Mugisa, the chairperson Hoima Tax and Bus parks says the overwhelming number of vehicles has affected businesses in the park.
