An angry mob has lynched two suspected cattle thieves in Kakumiro district. The two raided the home of one of the residents of Katugu village in Nalweyo Sub County on Sunday and attempted to steal cows.

However, luck ran out for the suspects when one of the residents spotted them and raised an alarm, which attracted hundreds of residents. The mob pursued the suspects who were fleeing for dear life, intercepted them and lynched them.

Yosam Kwikiriza, the Katugu village LC I, says that the suspected thugs raided the village around 8 pm. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, says that by the time police arrived at the scene, it was late to save the lives of the suspects.

He says that police picked up their bodies and took them to Kakumiro Health Center IV for postmortem where they were lying by the time of filing this story. Police are yet to establish the identities of the mob victims.
