The Bishop for Bunyoro Kitara Diocese has directed all clergy in the diocese to stop conducting family prayers in people’s homes but rather pray on phone with families as a means to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus.

Bishop Samuel Kahuma Abwooli explains that there is information that some clergy are conducting family prayers in Christian homes an act he says can expose them to contract or spread covid-19 virus adding that the best option is to pray for believers on phone.

He says physical contacts should be minimized as much as possible unless otherwise. He made the remarks while conducting a Sunday service via zoom at Duhaga cathedral.

The service was attended by only six clergy while the Christians were following via zoom.

Bishop Kahuma prayed for the covid19 patients especially those on oxygen and extended condolences to families whose relatives have succumbed to covid19.

He encouraged Ugandans to get vaccinated against covid19 if there is an opportunity adding that those discouraging people to go vaccination are doing evil.

He called for strict adherence to the revised covid19 guidelines saying it’s for the betterment of one’s health and asked Ugandans to double their faith and trust in God as the source of life.

Hoima district has registered over 326 cases of covid19 infections whereby over eight are admitted at the Hoima regional Hospital Covid-19 Treatment Unit while over 165 are being treated under the Homa Care Based Management and 11 deaths.
