As Covid-19 continues to strike the country, residents in Hoima are being asked to enforce the health guidelines instead of waiting for and ministry of health.
Naume Koojo, the district secretary for Health and Social services says citizens should remain vigilant to stop the spread of COVID-19 which she says has left everyone scared.
Koojo who is also the district female councilor for Kitoba sub-county explains that unless the citizens take Covid-19 serious and heed to the guidelines, every citizen might be affected socially and economically.
Hoima has since the second wave registered 98 cases of Covid19 infections and out of which, 14 are health workers while 3 deaths have been recorded within the past seven days.
One covid19 victim, a health worker at Butema Health centre succumbed to the pandemic on Saturday causing panic among frontline workers at the facility.
A source in the Health department explains that they are considering closing the facility temporarily since other staff members are isolated and under home based care.
Dr Lawrence Tumusiime, the Hoima District Health Officer however says the issue will be discussed during the district Covid19 Task Force meeting on Tuesday but asked media to encourage the public to follow the guidelines.
The increasing infections have forced some institutions to introduce in-house polices aimed at preventing the spread of the pandemic. At St. Cyprian Town Parish church, masses were on Sunday being conducted outside churches for social distance purposes, a face mask is must among others.
