Kikuube district councilors and the LCV chairperson Peter Banura have taken oath at a function that started with a mass led by District Champlain Rv. Fr John Bosco Musinguzi from Muteme Catholic parish.
In his sermon Rv. Musinguzi called on the leaders to always pray to God to guide them as they assume office to ensure that they service the populace with faith.
After the mass, at exactly 1:20pm, the swearing-in kicked off presided over by David Sayuni, the Hoima Chief Magistrate.
In his inaugural speech at Kikuube district headquarters, Banura called for team work among the people of Kikuube and the elected councilors to ensure his Council delivers up to people’s expectations.
He also promised to deal with problem of land conflict which has left residents unsettled. He says that the district leadership will champion the campaign to have systematic land demarcation to ensure that resident have security on their land.
He also promised to use the tourism potential in the district to develop tourism adding that the district is rich with flora and fauna which he says that once promoted it can earn money to the district.
He commended NGOs for supporting the district in promoting better service delivery in health and education and among other sectors.
After his speech, he appointed Vice Opio Vicente as his deputy, Everce Muguryeke as secretary for works, Zuria Nyakahara as secretary for finance, planning and investment and Nicolas Kiiza as secretary for production and Natural resources while community, gender and social services, health and education will be handled by the LCV boss.
Chris Nkalu was elected district speaker deputized by Tumusime Silverios.
