Hoima Teachers Undergo ICT Training

Teachers and school administrators in Hoima district have been urged to integrate Information, Communication and Technology-ICT expertise in their teaching in order to improve on learners’ academic performance.

Thembo Nyombi, the Director for Rural Communication Development Fund-RCDF at the Uganda Communications Commission says government is fast tracking the communication of ICT to reach out to everyone since universal usage of modern technology is now.

Nyombi was Thursday afternoon officiating the opening a five day free ICT training workshop for Primary school head teachers from Hoima at Kitara Secondary School organized by UCC in partnership with Ministry of Education and Sports.

Patrick Zahuura, the head teacher for Kitara Secondary School says teachers have to be adaptive to the technology advancement in order to clear existing gaps in the learning environment adding that his teachers are now able to prepare lesions using digital technologies.

Moses Ayebaale, on behalf of the head teachers undertaking the training commended government for the teaching upgrade saying it would enable them to get better results from students.

The training which kicked off Thursday morning and ends next week on Tuesday is aimed at introducing head teachers to the Accessible Computer Technology project for the underserved students.
