Kakumiro Woman Kills Co-Wife With an Axe

Police in Kakumiro have launched a manhunt for a woman for brutally murdering her co-wife.

The suspect has only been identified as Kyalimpa, a resident of Kakayo village in Kasambya Sub County in Kakumiro while the deceased is Catherine Atuhaire 26, a resident of the same area.

The two are wives to Emmanuel Twamuhebwa a resident of the same area.
It is alleged that on March 29, 2021 at around 2p.m while in Kakayo, the duo picked a misunderstanding over unknown reasons and in the process Kyalimpa picked an axe that she used to hit Atuhaire severally on the head. She died on the spot.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson says the two women were living in the same house but different rooms.

He says area residents and local leaders rushed to the scene of crime only to find Atuhaire’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.  He says after committing the gruesome act, Kyalimpa varnished to yet an unknown destination.

According to Hakiza, police has launched investigations into the matter to ascertain what could have happened adding that once arrested, the suspect will be arraigned before court to be charged with murder.

Meanwhile, the body was picked by police and later taken to Kakumiro Health Center IV for postmortem.
