Former LCIII Contender in Kakumiro Arrested for Defilement

Police in Kakumiro district is holding a former LCIII Chairperson candidate for Kisiita town council identified as Anatoli Micheal Twijukye for alleged defilement.

The suspect who is detained at Kakumiro police station was arrested on Saturday while defiling a 14 year-old senior two student in one of the lodges in Kisiita town.

The case was recorded under reference number 02/28/03/2021.

Anatoli’s arrest followed a tip off to police and the victim’s parents by a concerned citizen who saw him sneaking his friend’s daughter into a lodge.

Statistics from the Criminal investigations department of police in Albertine region show 191 defilement cases were recorded between March and May 2020 in the region at the height of lockdown.

According to the breakdown, 20 cases were reported in Kibaale, 34 in Kiryandongo, 16 in Buliisa, 21 in Kakumiro, 22 in Masindi, 20 in Hoima, 27 in Kikuube and 31 in Kagadi.

According to the report, 84 girls were defiled by their parents while 249 were defiled by their guardians or caretakers.
