Two health workers and two guards have been arrested on allegations of embezzling government property meant to benefit the local citizen.

The suspects are Nicholas Nankunda, the health assistant and Albert George Baguma a health worker, both attached to Kabuga health center III in Muhorro sub-county, Kagadi district. The others are Medard Turyahebwa and Ezekiel Mujuni, security guards attached to the same health facility.

It is alleged that the duo stole and sold government property including gum boots, aprons, T-Shirts and among other equipment meant for the VHTS and local chairpersons that were to be used in the exercise of distributing government mosquito nets.

Odiira Byonanebye, the female district councilor Muhorro sub county says as leaders they consulted other sub-counties and found out that gumboots T-Shirts and aprons were distributed to the VHTS and local leaders, which was not done in Muhorro sub- County.

This forced them to inform the RDC who immediately acted and arrested two health workers and the guards involved in the embezzlement.

Meanwhile, the RDC Kagadi Lillian Ruteraho has condemned the acts of stealing of government property by concerned officials saying it retards service delivery.

She says the suspects will be prosecuted in court for theft of government property.
