A 50-year-old businessman in Kabale district has been shot dead. Silver Turyahikayo, a resident of Kisasi village, Kamuganguzi Sub County was gunned down on Monday at 7:50 pm. Turyahikayo was a money changer and a shopkeeper at Uganda-Rwanda border of Mirama in Ntungamo district.
Brian Ampeire, the Kabale District Police Commander says that Turyahikayo was supervising his house which is under construction a few metres from his home when two unknown people who were riding a motorcycle shot him three times.
Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region says that sound of bullets attracted residents in the area who alerted police officers at Katuna police station. Maate adds that police swung into action and rushed the victim but died before reaching to Rushoroza Hospital.
In August 2018, Francis Aryarugamu a businessman and his wife Zamu Kenkoonzi, both residents of Bataka cell, Mwanjari ward Southern Division, Kabale municipality were shot dead while walking to their home in Mwanjari trading center shortly after closing their Soda Depot in Kabale Central Market.
