Dr Charles Ayume, the NRM Parliamentary contestant for the Koboko Municipality seat and Minister accused Awule of being partisan.
The Koboko District NRM Chairman Nelson Awule has been accused of campaigning for the State Minister for Investment Evelyn Anite.
This comes after Awule appeared together with Anite on a talk show on Spirit FM, a local radio station in the Municipality.
NRM party supporters and leaders are now calling for Awule’s impeachment.
Dr Charles Ayume, the NRM Parliamentary contender for the Koboko Municipality and Anite’s rival accused Awule of being partisan. Ayume, however, distanced himself from orchestrating the impeachment saying Awule was not properly orientated to do his work well by the NRM party.
However, Awule described the move by the NRM supporters to impeach him as misguided. He says that he was exercising his constitutional rights to support a candidate of his choice.
Awule says his appearance for a talk show with Minister Anite was to educate the voters about the upcoming primaries. He adds that he did not breach any party rules.
Joseph Donante Tabu the campaign manager for Anite says that Awule is innocent of the accusations. According to Tabu, it’s not a crime for the Minister to be in the company of party officials.
Daniel Agoi the Archdeacon of Koboko Archdeaconary who is also the chairperson Inter-Religious Council of Koboko has expressed fear of what he calls the changing trend of politics in Koboko Municipality and calls for tolerance among the politicians and their supporters.
