As we inch closer to the MTN MoMoNyabo Season Three finale,lives of thousands of Ugandans have been transformed thanks to the MTN MoMoNyabo Together Promotion that came up to support Ugandans rebuild from the financial disruption caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic through giving them to win hard cash daily for six straight weeks.
To enter the draw, all clients have to do is use the MyMTN app or simply dial *165# to pay for anything including data, airtime, water, yaka and TV subscription among many other payments.
BenedictoMakumbi a business man and resident of Mityana won himself a whopping 2,600,000 million shillings. The 89 year old with over 18 children and grandchildren was in total disbelief that during such trying times millions of shillings could be handed over to him hustle free.
“My wife, upon hearing the voice of PatrickoMujuuka the host of the show convinced me that it was not a hoax,” narrated Makumbi to the MTN MoMoNyabo Togetherteam that had delivered his cash to his home in Mityana.
Jimmy Ssempuuma the MTN Regional Marketing Manager, Central Region congratulated Makumbi upon his win and encouraged him to continue using MTN and its services.
Makumbi who owns a hardware store thanked MTN Uganda for its timely gesture. He said that with the lockdown instated, business was slow and he had been struggling to keep his hardware store afloat since it is his only source of income. The retired primary school teacher noted that the money he had won would be injected in his hardware store, particularly replenishing his cement stock.
“Since the bags of cement I’ll buy will come from money I won, I intend to sell these bags at a discounted price to the community so that they too can share in on this blessing,” he added. Makumbi chose to share his money with his best friend and wife of over 70 years DunintiriaNakiwalaMakumbi. While Makumbi received 1,800,000 UGX, Nakiwala his wife received 800,000 UGX.
A jolly Nakiwala thanked her husband for sharing the cash he had won, with her. She also thanked MTN for giving back to them. It is through times like these that we are able to know those who will stand with us even when times are tough. Nakiwala revealed how the money she received will go a long way in her business “I will use this money to revive my poultry business that had collapsed,” she went on to add.
